This strange light (UFO) was filmed over Pavlodar Kazakhstan, January 28, 2011, and according to the witness, it happens twice a month!

First thoughts were a comet, but that wouldn’t happen every month, UFO is a great term, because the object is definitely unknown. Because it happens twice every month, I wonder if it is the International Space Station (ISS) or some other low orbiting craft?
Update: Just found another video with a similar light filmed early (1st?) February 2011, again in Kazakhstan.

OK, think we have solved this — below is another video, this time from 9th/10th July 2010. It shows a very similar object, but after checking launch dates for rockets (most of which are taking supplies to the International Space Station), it looks like this was a Proton rocket taking off from the Central Asian spaceport of Baikonur Cosmodrome, Kazakhstan!

The first video (top) is probably the Russian Soyuz booster that was also launched from the Baikonur Cosmodrome in Kazakhstan at 8:31 p.m. EST (0131 GMT) on the 28th Jan 2011. It was Russia’s 41st such cargo delivery mission to the space station.
So, unless the dates are wrong or there is another explanation, I think the strange light is unfortunately just a rocket on its way to the ISS.
