Bavaria Beavers released in Gloucestershire
Six Beavers have been released into the wild near South Cerney, Gloucestershire (UK). This marks their return after they where hunted to extinction (for its fur and the pain-relieving properties of its anal gland secretions) almost 500 years ago.
The six adults come from Bavaria and spent several months in quarantine before being released into a 500-acre site. As soon as they have settled into their new home, they will be able to roam free in the wild, and should help to keep the British waterways clear of debris.
