Two new Big Cat sightings near London

Are Big Cats loose in the UK?

Are Big Cats loose in the UK?

The infamous big cats of Buckinghamshire and Bexleyheath have been spotted again this summer.

The Beast of Bucks was seen around 5pm on the 2nd August 2007 by Richard Skipp and a work colleague while driving home near Beldlow Ridge, just north of West Wycombe.

“It was a puma-like creature. It wasn’t panicked by us, it just went through the hedge and slinked off.” said Mr Skipp.

The Bexleyheath big-cat was seen earlier this summer (no exact date given) at around 9.30pm by Nicola Short, as she travelled by train near Crayford.

The big black animal, thought by some to be a puma like cat, was seen descending from a tree before disappearing into the undergrowth.

Giant Homer Simpson a bit of fun or disrespectful?

Giant Homer

Giant Homer

A giant underpants-wearing, doughnut-waving Homer Simpson has been painted on the hill next to the famous 180ft carving of the Cerne Abbas Giant in Dorset.

The painting, a promotional stunt for the upcoming Simpsons movie has upset some, and amused others.

Pagans have condemned the stunt as disrespectful, and plan to perform “rain magic” to wash away the water-based biodegradable character.

The landlord of the local pub the New Inn said it was different, but had not heard any complaints so far – he also added that he wasn’t sure if many of the locals would actually know who Homer was anyway!

What ever your views, I personally can’t help thinking the money spent on the stunt could have been used for an alternative form of publicity!

Perhaps a giant doughnut shaped crop circle for instance?

Note: you heard the crop circle idea here first!

Strange lights spotted over Guernsey

Strange Lights in the Sky

Strange Lights in the Sky

A commercial airline pilot from one plane and passengers from another have reported that they saw two bright yellow flat disc shapes, estimated to be twice the size of a Boeing 737, in the sky near Guernsey.

John Spencer, deputy chairman of the British UFO Research Association, said: “These types of sightings have been reported by pilots - generally accepted to be reliable and sensible observers - since the 1940s and they have excited attention to this day.

“Such light effects are often popularly thought to represent alien visitors but many UFO researchers believe they more likely represent natural, atmospheric, phenomena not yet fully understood by science.

Atmospheric phenomena, black budget aircraft or UFO of the alien kind? Have you seen any strange lights in the sky? If so, Cryptoworld would like to hear from you.

UK Hacker loses High Court appeal

Gary Mckinnon

Gary Mckinnon

Gary McKinnon who allegedly caused thousands of dollars of damage to US army, air force and NASA property by hacking their computer systems, has lost his appeal against his extradition to the US where he could face a military tribunal and up to 70 years in jail.

Mckinnon, alias “Solo”, claimed he only hacked systems in 2001 while searching for evidence of UFOs and proof of advanced technology.

But the US (Pentagon) claims he caused $700,000 (£375, 000) worth of damage while crippling their systems.

UFO filmed over Avebury Wiltshire

This is an old story from 2003, but seems to be making the rounds again and some people seem to think it is a new sighting from 2007.

The truth behind the story is a little bit bizarre, but it seems that an amateur cameraman caught the object in the English countryside. I say English countryside as the video and story was first aired on Seven News in Australia.

Make what you will of these pictures shot by an amateur cameraman in the English countryside. It’s definitely a UFO - an unidentified flying object - but whether it came from outer space is yet to be determined.
- Channel 7 News, 18 August 2003

A few days later, a local Wiltshire paper, the Swindon Evening Advertiser, released the following, which kind of knocked the whole thing on the head.

A Spooky sighting over stone circle
UFO spotters will be dismayed to learn that the object was not being flown by little green men, but by a pair of pranksters in a disguised microlight.

Strange lights over London (Video)

More Islington UFOs

More Islington UFOs

On February the 1st, a pattern of strange lights were seen over Islington and Archway in London.

The story in the Islington Gazette reports,

10 to 15 lights were seen moving in a southerly direction before stopping, hovering for about ten minuets and then moving up into the sky and out of sight.

Now there is a video of the lights, which to me still looks like another balloon and light stunt, what’s your thought?

Mysterious lights seen over London

Islington UFOs

Islington UFOs

Residents in Islngton and Archway (London) spotted dozens of mysterious lights in the sky on Thursday evening, which appears to have caused a bit of panic.

A story in the Islington Gazette reports 10 to 15 lights were seen moving in a southerly direction before stopping, hovering for about ten minuets and then moving up into the sky and out of sight.

Local Police contacted the Oxford-based Contact International UFO Research group who said they had had other witness call them reporting the same thing.

Was this a formation of planes, UFOs or just a elaborate prank made out of illuminated balloons?

Police hunt Big Cat near London

Puma - Big Cat?

Puma - Big Cat?

Police launched an air search yesterday (24th October 2006) after a number of people reported seeing a big ‘black’ cat near Weald Country Park, Brentwood.

Essex Police said it is now interviewing several people who had reported seeing the animal, which has been described as being the size of a puma.

People have been urged to report any sighting to the police, but not to approach the animal. Pet owners have also been advised to keep their animals inside.

The police are expected to liaise with wildlife experts to draw up a plan based on the information they have received so far.

Hundreds of UFOs sighted over UK (Update)

Referring back to Sunday’s post Hundreds of UFOs sighted over UK skies, you may recall I was interested to know what Lynne Featherstone had actually asked to prompt Derek Twigg’s response.

Well after searching the Parliament website for an hour, I decided it would be a lot quicker and easier to just email the MPs and ask them what they said.

So far only Lynne Featherstone has replied, but she was kind enough to send me her original question and the full response from Mr Twigg.

Unidentified Flying Objects

Lynne Featherstone: To ask the Secretary of State for Defence how many reported unidentified flying object sightings his Department (a) received and (b) investigated in the last five years.

Derek Twigg: Since January 2001 the Ministry of Defence has received 714 reports of unidentified flying objects. Reports are analysed solely to consider whether there is any reason to believe that UK airspace has been compromised by the reported activity. Of the 714 reports received, only 12 were deemed to be worthy of further consideration, and none of these were considered to demonstrate any threat to the integrity of the UK Air Defence Region.

Overall it’s not terribly exciting, but it got me thinking and I intend to ask more questions. As I’m wondering if Lynne Featherstone is a bit of a UFO buff?

Does anybody know if any other MPs are interested in UFOs?

Hundreds of UFOs sighted over UK skies

UFO? No a hot-air ballon

UFO? No a hot-air ballon

More than 700 UFO sightings have been reported to to the Ministry of Defence (MOD) in the last six years.

But out of the 714 reports, only 12 of them are said to “worthy of further consideration”, according to junior defence minister Derek Twigg .

Mr Twiggs comments come from a Commons written reply to Liberal Democrat Lynne Featherstone , and goes on to state — “Reports [of UFOs] are analysed solely to consider whether there is any reason to believe UK airspace has been compromised by the reported activity,”.

I think we all know that the MOD quite clearly state that it is only investigate UFOs to ascertain if Unidentified Flying Objects posse a threat to the UK! Kind of keeping an eye on our airspace as it were… strange, I thought that was what radar was for?
