Bigfoot News

It has been very quiet around here of late and I would like to apologies to everybody who has been wondering where I have been. The short answer is that I haven’t been anywhere, I have simply gone and found myself a 9 to 5 job again which means I haven’t really had time to think about Cryptoworld.
With the first week at work over, I am hopping to formulate a simple routine that will allow me to work, continue investigating weird and wonderful mysteries (especially those in Wiltshire) and to write a few articles every week. It’s not going to be easy, but I will see how things pan-out over the next few weeks - so bare with me!
For now (I know it’s a bit of a cop-out), but here is a short list of links to some stories that I have found interesting over the last week/10 days.

[singlepic=33,200,,,right]There is news that there has been some ‘armed’ searches in Chile and Argentina for a hominoid creature said to be responsible for a spate of animal killings and attacks on humans.
The alleged creature, more commonly know as the Chupacabra is believed to be responsible for more than 200 animal mutilations, including some rather bizarre cases where chickens have had all of their blood sucked out of their bodies!
The Miami UFO Center learned of the searches by farmers in Chile, and by police near the city of Rosario in Argentina. last week, but they had not heard if there has been any searches since.

Biodiversity expert Vincent Chow has put forward the theory that if the Johor Bigfoot does exists, then it is probably a remnant of Homo-Erectus.
It’s believed Malaysia, Indonesia and China once formed a single land mass. According to Chow’s theory, Homo-Erectus used moved from place to place, and they may have moved into Malaysia before proceeding to Indonesia and China.
He believes that some could have stayed in Malaysia, and lived undetected in the forests.
“My theory is that the Homo-Erectus who stopped in Malaysia were attracted to the pleasant surroundings including plentiful food,” said Chow.

Just a quick review of Loren Coleman’s book The Field Guide to Bigfoot and Other Mystery Primates
, which came out in paperback recently.
I must confess the below review is taken from the Amazon synopsis, as I am still awaiting my copy. But I will update this review when I have read the book myself.
The Field Guide to Bigfoot and Other Mystery Primates is a comprehensive study of the astonishing variety of puzzling primates that are being reported by eyewitnesses around the world - but that science has failed to recognise. This fully illustrated volume not only contains the references, range maps, and typical footprints that appeared in the first edition, but it also contains a new, complete index and new preface that updates the discoveries made since this book was first published. “The thousands of worldwide sightings of unclassified bipedal primates, including the Yeti, may be confusing because these sightings entail more than one species. This field guide attempts to sort out the different creatures, coming up with a classification of eight possible mystery primates. But this book makes no real attempt to persuade skeptics of the existence of any of them. It’s sort of speculative taxonomy, but I think it is one of the most useful texts in the ongoing controversy over Bigfoot.”
Tantalising new clues have apparently come to light surrounding the Johor Bigfoot. But the state Tourism and Environment committee are saying nothing until they can analyse the data properly.
You may remember that I tried to start a Friday’s Round-up last year, but I failed miserably. So miserably in fact I only managed one Friday!
But now, with UFO Mondays , I want to try and re-start a quick update of the weeks news and stories - some of which I have already talked about during the week, and others I’ve been following or noticed, but didn’t necessarily think were worth their very own post. So here goes, Friday 16th June 2006.
On Cryptoworld this week:
UFOs and Aliens started off the week, with a family from Haydock seeing a a flashing ball of light speed across the sky, before disappearing into the clouds, and Aliens allegedly communicated through a former police working, warning England would reach the semi-finals, but struggle to get any further! I’m not a big fan of the sport, but I’m now intrigued to see how far we do get, and if the ‘Aliens’ were right!
The New Straits Times printed the following news article yesterday (12th June 2006), giving a very brief update of the hunt for the Johor Bigfoot. Unfortunately nothing very exciting is or has happened, although more and more Malaysians are clamming to have seen the creature, which is good?
The State Government’s Bigfoot Committee, has be bombarded by sighting reports and calls for information, internationally as well as internally. I’m guessing they are trying to control the information to avoid a potentially frenzied race to see who finds it first. Assuming there is actually something out there to be found that is!
So it’s looking like the stories of the Johor ‘Bigfoot’ being caught are false! I new it sounded too good to be true. But even so, there still seems to be a lot of confusion, possibly even a cover-up?Cryptoworld will keep an ear to the ground…
No baby Bigfoot, say Malaysian officials
Kuala Lumpur - Malaysian wildlife officials denied capturing a baby “Bigfoot” Thursday, amid fevered speculation over the existence of the mythical creature in the nation’s southern jungles.
The Berita Harian newspaper reported that a young Bigfoot was caught by a group of men thought to be from the Wildlife and National Parks Department (Perhilitan) near the southern town of Kota Tinggi two weeks ago.
The paper quoted local residents as saying they had spoken to men who described shooting the creature with tranquiliser darts. The locals then peeked into the back of the their truck to see a large, hairy creature.
But the department’s director-general Datuk Musa Nordin denied the report.
“During the period reported, Perhilitan did not mount any operation in the area,” Musa said in a statement carried by the official Bernama news agency.
Freddie Long, the Tourism and Environment Committee chairperson in southern Johor state, said that if a Bigfoot had been captured, it should have been given to local authorities for research.
Bigfoot fever erupted last December when some workers claimed to have spotted three of the beasts, two adults and a youngster, on the edge of a Johor forest reserve.
The tale was given wide coverage in the national press which also carried stories of other sightings, some dating back decades, and printed photographs of supposed footprints - vague impressions in the jungle floor.
Local authorities treated the claims seriously, with plans for an official expedition to track down the mysterious beasts, and setting up a telephone hotline to report sightings.
Suggestions that the story has been cooked up to lure tourists to Johor have been denied.

Conflicting stories always cause confusion, wasting valuable time and money. So when two newspapers report different stories about the possible capture of the Johor Bigfoot, you have to wonder, which is telling the truth?
Surly one is right? Probably the one saying it hasn’t be caught, but the world of Cryptozoology seem to be holding its breath, hoping the other is right!
Cryptomundo picks up on the conflicting stories, but it seems that the state Environment and Tourism Committee chairman Freddie Long has said the following “We are not sure if the department’s officers had caught a baby Bigfoot. I only knew about it from newspapers today,”.
As a result, what appears to be a rushed law has been released stating: NO injury of any kind - including shooting - should be inflicted on Bigfoot (if it exists), which the Johor Government has classified as a totally-protected species. The creature also cannot be brought out of the State should it be caught without the permission from the relevant State authorities.
Interesting, but has one been shot? Time will tell I guess, but don’t hold your breath too long, it could prove fatal!

[inspic=8,right,fullscreen,thumb]Isaac Bailey, a commercial photographer from Phoenix, Arizona found the cave just below the lip of an 8000-foot plateau. It is close to the area where a retired police officer and his wife claimed to have seen a Sasquatch in July 2005, and Rangers investigating the sighting on the following day, did find and cast 20″ footprints, which is believed to be from a Sasquatch.
The cave is about 40 feet deep, 10 feet wide and ranging from 7 feet high at the entrance, tapering to 4 feet at the rear. The floors of other caves in the area are covered with jagged rocks, but in this cave the big rocks appear to have been purposely moved to the sides and earth has been brought in to form a flatten surface, making it easier to crawl in to the back of the cave.
The grass bedding found at the back of the cave is also interesting. It covers an area approximately the size of 3 large beds and is roughly 1 foot deep from wall to wall. The team has taken samples of the grass and plan to have it examined for hairs by an accomplished paleontologist.
The cave overlooks a canyon, and forms a natural observation point, but the BFRG hope to set up some kind of monitoring to see if they can find out just what has been using the cave.
What do you think - Sasquatch den? Or something else?
