Cryptoworld was originally set up in April 2005 to document a joint expedition with the Centre for Fortean Zoology to Mongolia.
The expedition was called Operation Deathworm, and we spent four weeks travelling the Gobi Desert in search of the Allghoi Khorkhoi (The Mongolian Death Worm), a fabled poisonous snake that is said to spit acid and stun it victims with bolts of electricity!
Although we didn’t actually find the elusive worm, we did have a lot of fun meeting and interviewing some fascinating people. Our conclusion on whether the Death Worm could exist is a definite “yes”, but finding such an elusive creature may take time.
So in the meantime, Cryptoworld has continued the Fortean and Cryptozoology theme, and will one day re-visit Mongolia to search for the elusive worm.
