Great pictures of the Saharan cheetah, possibly the rarest of the big cats.

Sarah M. Durant from the Wildlife Conservation Society in New York and a team of Algerian and British researchers captured pictures of the Saharan cheetah (Acinonyx jubatus hecki) with camera traps in the Ahaggar Cultural Park in Algeria.

The rarest of the six cheetah subspecies, it is thought that only about 200 to 250 of these nocturnal cats survive in remote pockets of Algeria, Niger, Togo, Mali, Benin and Burkina Faso, making them the rarest—and and also the most widely distributed large predator on the planet!

In the late 80s I started investigating UFOs and crop circles and joined the CCCS (Centre for Crop Circle Studies) and a local group researching strange sightings and reports along the south coast of Dorset (UK). In the early ’90s I started my own research group called SPS (Strange Phenomena Studies), this was renamed in 2004 to Cryptoworld.
