Megalithic Tomb, France
Man, everything changes so quickly. I have been in France and Italy for the last two months with my girlfriend, travelling and exploring a part of the world that is right on our doorstep (
I live in the UK just in case you didn’t know), yet for some reason we rarely visit.
We had planed to stay away for longer, but unfortunately had to cut the trip short because our motorhome was broken into in Pisa, Italy and everything was stolen, clothes, food and some personal belongings - bit of a nightmare really! But looking at things positively, it means we now have the chance to have a fresh start, something we have both been trying to do since moving out of London last year.
Anyway, enough of our troubles, we are both fine, have each other and the things taken were materialistic and can be replaced, and after all, this site is about weird and wonderful things, and we saw plenty of those, especially in France.

Gouffre de Padirac, France
I am planing to write about some of the places we visited, unfortunately most of our photos were taken, so I will have to rely on stock pictures for some of them, but my note books was left and my memory is still fresh so all is not lost.
Rather than delving right in now, I thought I would tempt you with a few places we visited and by committing them to print will also mean I will have to write about them – so pester me if I appear to have forgotten!
Some places we visited, would like to re-vist and which I will write about are, Mont Saint-Michel, Carnac and it’s 3000+ standing stones, Gouffre de Padirac, Prehistoric Peche Merle Caves and the lovely Rennes le Chateau.
So stay tuned, news, stories and updates are on there way.
P.S. If you happen to be the person who stole all of our stuff, including the pictures, we would appreciate it if you could send us the black backup device, or at least a copy of the pictures on CD.
Note: Amazingly my Laptop found its way home and I have managed to recover 90% of the photos - so I now have no excuse for not writing about the places we visited!
Seventy years ago today (September 7th 1936) the last known (captive) Tasmanian Tiger known as “Benjamin” died.
Alleged sighting have been reported every since, several this year in fact, but even after numerous searches and at least one $1,000,000 dollar (Australian) reward, no solid evidence has ever been presented to back up the sightings.
New sighting of a black Panther like cat warrants an official search says Biosecurity New Zealand senior adviser.
This is now the sixth sighting of a large cat in mid Canterbury (NZ) since 2001.
You may remember that I tried to start a Friday’s Round-up last year, but I failed miserably. So miserably in fact I only managed one Friday!
But now, with UFO Mondays , I want to try and re-start a quick update of the weeks news and stories - some of which I have already talked about during the week, and others I’ve been following or noticed, but didn’t necessarily think were worth their very own post. So here goes, Friday 16th June 2006.
On Cryptoworld this week:
UFOs and Aliens started off the week, with a family from Haydock seeing a a flashing ball of light speed across the sky, before disappearing into the clouds, and Aliens allegedly communicated through a former police working, warning England would reach the semi-finals, but struggle to get any further! I’m not a big fan of the sport, but I’m now intrigued to see how far we do get, and if the ‘Aliens’ were right!
[singlepic=70,240,,,right]Four new sighting of the Tasmanian Tiger (Thylacine) have been reported in the last three months on the outskirts of Portland, Southern Australia. These along with the recent discovery of rock paintings in Western Australia depicting what appears to be several thylacines, suggest the Tasmanian Tiger used to roam across most of mainland Australia, and poses the question of whether the Tasmanian tiger is really extinct!
Cryptoword would love to hear from anybody who thinks they have seen a Thylacine in the last 12 months, or believes they know where they can been found, as we are thinking of planning an expedition to Australia and Tasmania next year, and would like to spend some time searching for the Tasmanian Tiger. Tasmanian tiger ’sightings’
TASMANIAN tigers are said to be roaming the outskirts of Portland.
Four sightings of one of the world’s most fabled creatures have been reported to an independent researcher in the past three months.
The last sighting was in early May by a Portland resident, Anthony Ersello, who said yesterday he saw the strange dog-like animal sitting in the middle of the Princes Highway on the outskirts of town near the Shell service station.
